Learn the basics of incline belt conveyors so you can make an informed decision on what will work best for your business.

In today’s consumer-driven world, the demand for conveyor systems has surged. These systems play a crucial role in bulk material handling, helping move materials efficiently between different levels. Bulk material refers to large quantities of goods like grains or minerals. Incline belt conveyors are essential in this process, as they transport materials uphill, making manufacturing and shipping more streamlined. Whether you’re in manufacturing or logistics, choosing the right conveyor system, such as an incline belt conveyor, can greatly enhance your material handling operations.

We have experience putting all the pieces together and designing efficient systems with industry-leading costs and lead times.

What is Bulk Material?

Bulk materials are dry, solid materials usually in granular form, like salt or sand. They need special storage to keep them from spilling or getting contaminated, especially if they’re edible like sugar. To move these materials around, you need specific conveyors like rubber or metal belts, screw conveyors, tubular conveyors, and pneumatic conveyors. For going up, the incline belt conveyor is super efficient!

What is an Incline Belt Conveyor?

An incline belt conveyor, also called a floor-to-floor conveyor, helps transition bulk material or cartons from lower elevations to upper elevations or from upper elevations to lower elevations. As the name suggests, this type of material handling system is situated at an angle to help transport materials from one floor to another.

However, the angle of the incline matters greatly in moving the materials; if the angle is too steep, the materials can tumble right off the conveyor. If the angle is too shallow, the conveyor takes up too much floor space, and the system won’t move large quantities of material efficiently. Other factors contribute to the planning of an incline belt conveyor installation, such as product weight, size of the product and/or a load of product, and floor size available for bulk material handling.

At Russell Conveyor & Equipment, we have a planning team with extensive knowledge of these systems and how best to integrate them with your material handling area.

Why do we recommend Incline Cleated Belt Conveyors?

When moving bulk materials between floors, incline belt conveyors are the way to go! These conveyors come in two types: cleated belts for sealed containers and flat belts for other products. For sealed containers, like the ones we’ve discussed, an incline cleated belt conveyor is the best choice. The cleats on the belt act as anchors, ensuring the containers stay put and don’t tumble off during transport. It’s a fun and efficient way to get the job done!

At Russell Conveyor & Equipment, we specialize in crafting incline belt conveyors that can handle inclines from 40 to 100 feet. Keeping your materials securely in place as they travel through the system is crucial. Don’t stress about figuring out the best system for your needs. Our team excels at designing efficient systems with fast lead times and competitive costs. Let us take the complexity out of conveyor solutions and make it a breeze for you!

We look forward to assessing and meeting the needs of your facility!
